Langa and Litha Matutu

A Journey of Growth and Opportunity

The journey of Langa and Litha Matutu with TVET SA began in 2022, thanks to a meaningful social partnership between TVET SA and the SA Children’s Home/South African Kinderhuis in Cape Town.

The twins were given an opportunity to enroll in a Sewing Learnership for Unemployed Youth, and without hesitation, they seized the chance to build brighter futures.

In Litha’s own words: “You are firstly GIVEN an opportunity, but you have to MAKE the choice to stay committed.”

Turning Challenges into Achievements
With dedicated coaching and mentoring from TVET SA’s theory facilitators, Langa and Litha overcame subjects they had previously struggled with in school. Their practical training broughtout their natural talents and determination.

Langa shared, “I came to TVET SA to learn new skills, and it inspired me to never stop learning.”

Bright Futures at FG Uniforms

Today, the twins are completing their work experience at FG Uniforms in Cape Town. Their infectious energy and positive outlook are brightening the factory floor as they make their mark
on the industry.

  • Langa, who has developed a deep respect for teamwork, aspires to take on a leadershiprole and continue his studies in fashion and garment construction.
  • Litha has found compassion through his journey and dreams of working in childcare.“You can really help others when you have lived through similar circumstances. I want to inspire future generations and show them that they can create their own path.”

A New Chapter

Both twins have now secured full-time employment with their host firm, FG Uniforms, marking the beginning of an exciting new chapter in their lives.

The Matutu twins’ story is a testament to the transformative power of education, mentorship, and commitment. They remind us all that with determination, opportunity can lead to incredible
success.
